QuickPlay SlingPlayer 0.4 is the latest version of software that combines the straightforwardness of HP QuickPlayer together with the portability of SlingMedia products.
After an agreement between HP and SlingMedia, they released QuickPlay SlingPlayer, whose main feature is that it allows you to watch TV from your computer or portable devices such as laptops or cellphones.
Slingmedia is the creator of the SlingBox, device that allows you to watch television anywhere, as it connects with your TV and streams the signal to your PC, via home network, or to your laptop or even a cellphone via a broadband internet connection. Using this device is like taking your TV with you.
This new software offers all SlingBox users a new and more exciting television experience, as well as the possibilty of playing all kinds of multimedia content without even booting up your Notebook’s operating system.
QuickPlay SlingPlayer is already pre-installed on all HP QuickPlay-enabled notebooks. What Slingplayer does is simply controls the source video in your screen as if you were confortably sitting in your living room. Software includes a built-in remote control through which you can have all the functions of your actual remote control, that is, change the channels or fast forward through programs, among other functions. With QuickPlay SlingPlayer you will be able to play your DVD’s, listen to music and watch your digital photos, and mainly control your favourite TV programms, simply by turning a QuickPlay button. Besides, the application has several viewing modes including full screen or windowed mode, and slingbar mode, which splits your screen into two so you can watch TV while surfing the internet or working.
One disadvantage that the software is pre-installed on notebooks only in the United States.
